Master of Natural Resources Program

An interdisciplinary graduate education program for natural resources and environmental sustainability professionals

The Master of Natural Resources (MNR) degree programs offered through Virginia Tech’s Center for Leadership in Global Sustainability (CLiGS) prepare students for employment and career opportunities in environmental conservation and sustainable development, especially new jobs that are emerging in an increasingly interconnected, urban, and global world.

Designed as a professional degree, the MNR is offered in three different formats to meet the needs of an increasingly diverse audience—a 100% Online format (MNR); a Global format (GMNR) for those looking for extensive international experience; and an Executive format (XMNR) for professionals with significant prior work experience. Each of the three MNR formats are 30-credit, non-thesis programs that provide an interdisciplinary perspective, transformative experience, and international exchange as core elements of the curriculum. The MNR degree does not require a GRE for admission.
